My Methods and Beliefs 

      There are many training methods that can be used, many trainers believe that their way is the only way. I think that each trainer has something special to offer, but to think that there is only one way to train a dog is not quite right. All dogs and handlers are not created the same and some require different methods based on their situation . I try to use methods to fit both the handler and the dog.

     I use all forms of positive  reinforcement, the giving of toys, treats, praise or petting. What is use for each situation is determined by what the owner prefers, some owners don’t want the dogs to be given treats so we will use the dogs favorite toy and so on. (Please keep in mind that dogs have there preferences too and may prefer a snack to a toy or petting). We will help you to determine what is best for your dogs learning experience.

     I do always use plenty of praise for the dog, so I will praise you as well for your efforts and progress. I’m here to help you - not put you down or yell at you. I believe the training experience should be fun for you and your dog and I encourage you to let me know of any problems or concerns you may be having.

We also offer assistance is puppy selection, choosing the right dog/breed for you or even picking the right dog from the pound.  Payment is $15.00 per hour to go with you to choose. Believe it or not choosing the right dog is very important  decision that you have to live with for as long as 15 years there are an estimate of 7.5 million dogs that are  destroyed each year because they are not wanted by anyone. Please keep this in mind when choosing a dog  with or without our help please make it a life long commitment to the dog you adopt.

My Training Experience:

I started out 15 years ago by training my first dog, a Golden Retriever, when I was only 14 years old.  Later, I trained the two pit bulls that I got when I moved out on my own. 

Now, I have a Labrador Retriever and another pit bull who are getting smarter everyday. I have also helped some of my pet-sitting clients by teaching their dogs to be more obedient on walks.

 I love working with dogs, watching them grow and transform through the training process.

I am certified through the Penn Foster Career School were I took a ten month course on dog obedience. I have read lots of books on different types of dogs and their  behaviors and attend different seminars over the past year. I am a novice but my prices are fair and I have had very good experiences and I do have references.
